Sizing Information

We all know how each designer has a different idea of sizes. To help you, I provide actual measurements (see below) for some of the higher end garments. This way you can make sure that the item you are interested in will fit.
Please be sure to compare these measurements to garments that you like the fit of, rather than to measurements on your body.

For those items that I am unable to measure, you can find the Designers' size charts below. I have duplicated as many size charts as I can find. If you find that one is missing, please let me know and I will do my best to find it.

Dresses

Measurement A: Measured from underarm, along the sleeve seam (if there is one) to the end of the sleeve at the wrist.

Measurement B: Measured at the smallest part of the dress, whether that be at the waistline or elsewhere (e.g. empire style dresses). Note that in the case where there is no waist (as with many maternity dresses) this measurement will not be taken.

Measurement C: Measured across the back of the garment from one armpit to the other.

Measurement D: Measured from the base of the collar at the center of the neckline to the bottom of the dress hem. This measurement is taken at the back of the dress.

Tops

Measurement E: Measured from the highest point of the shoulder seam to the bottom of the garment. This measurement is taken at the front of the top. In the case of tops with spaghetti straps this measurement is taken with the strap at it's longest and is from the top of the strap to the bottom of the garment.

Measurement F: Measured from the bottom of the neckline to the bottom of the top. This measurement is taken at the front of the top.

Measurement G: Measured from underarm, along the sleeve seam (if there is one) to the end of the sleeve at the wrist.

Measurement H: Measured from the base of the collar at the center of the neckline to the bottom of the top. This measurement is taken at the back of the top.

Measurement I: Measured across the back of the garment from one armpit to the other.

Skirts

Measurement J: Measured around the top of the waistband.

Measurement K: Measured from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the skirt hem. This measurement is taken at the center of the front of the skirt.

Pants/Shorts

Measurement L: Measured around the top of the waistband. If the waistband is adjustable the measurement will be taken with the waistband set at it's largest setting.

Measurement M: Measured by laying the pants on a flat surface and measuring the width of the pants or shorts at the level of the crotch. Note that this measurement may be wider than just measuring across the front from the left seam to the right seam. This is intended to provide an idea of the width of the pants/shorts at hip level.

Measurement N: Measured by laying the pant leg flat and measuring the width of the bottom of the pant leg. This is intended to provide an idea of the extent of the flare of the leg.

Measurement O: Measured from the crotch, down the inner leg seam to the bottom of the pant leg.

Please note that these measurements are approximate and should be used as a guide only.
